St. Michael's primary music ensemble is the Chancel Choir. Membership is open to all singers, ages from late youth and up. You need not be an accomplished musician to be a member. Current membership is 28 singers. The Chancel Choir serves as worship leaders at all 11:00 am services and at the 8:30 service on Festival Sundays with the Chapel Choir.
This group has become known as one of the best medium sized volunteer choirs in the Greenville area. (Both the Greenville Chorale and Greenville Chamber Singers have drawn members from our Chancel Choir) The group has served as worship leaders for the South Carolina Synod Annual Conference and The American Guild of Organists opening convocations.
In the past decade St. Michael's choir has commissioned two anthems by nationally know composers; Robert Powell (Salvation is Created published by Concordia Publishing House) and Craig Courtney (Blessed are You published by Beckenhorst Press)
Annual collaborations included joint Thanksgiving and Easter Sunrise Services with Augusta Heights Baptist and Trinity United Methodist, and an Advent/Christmas music program with Messiah Lutheran.
The Chapel Choir is a vocal ensemble formed to lead worship at the 8:30 Service. With approximately 15 singers, this group will join the Chancel Choir on Festival Services as well. This group meets in the Choir room on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 pm.
