Site Planning Group

Family Life Center Planning

The Site Planning Group (SPG) was chartered by Council in 2007 to evaluate and recommend improvements to the physical space of St. Michael to support our Church mission. The initial effort was completed in April of 2008.  Our mission statement, minutes, exhibits from our work and a comprehensive report on that effort is available for review on the Planning page of the church website.

Participants in the first phase of planning included Bill Carnes, Sam Cely, Tommy Clarke, David Cooke, Jeff Forrester, Debbie Hammersla, Tom Harriz, Howard Leonard, Ralph Mellom, Greg Monn, Paul Montjoy, Mary Reeves, Rick Richardson, Pete Strub, and Wilson Worley.

Council has subsequently tasked the SPG to further evaluate and develop design plans for a Family Life Center to be built on our campus.

We will meet approximately every 2 weeks – typically on Monday evenings – to outline the specific needs of St. Michael and focus on the tangible factors of building for a Family Life Center at St. Michael.  We will develop several practical concepts and then work to flesh out the “How” and “How Much”.  We will begin this task after Easter 2009.

The Group has a “hands-on” philosophy.  We expect input and participation from each member.  No option is ignored, no opinion goes untested and there are no sacred cows.  Expect to participate in lively discussion.  We want to know what you really think.

If you are interested in ACTIVELY PARTICIPATING in the planning and evaluation process for a Family Life Center at St. Michael, I invite you to review the earlier work and offer your name to be included in this next phase of the SPG process.  Your background does not need to be construction or engineering; we need “users” input.

Operating Philosophy:  Bring ideas to the table.  There are no bad ideas.
Don't tell us what won't work before we begin.  We'll figure it out based on facts and the congregation's goals.  We will address every option raised with respect.
